Acquire, train and select a working companion

A supplied introduction followed by actual care and a bounded combat role.

Prerequisites: the introduction supplies displayed on the chosen species card, access to its habitat and an idle character. For Ridge Ram or Pack Marten, reach Highmeadow carrying one harness and three feed. A harness requires its displayed Tailoring gate and inputs or a real player trade; it is not part of empty-character starting gear.

Step by step

Tick a step after observing the expected result. Saved on this device only.

01Inspect a species and its costs

Open Companions, read the species role, tradeoff, habitat and introduction inputs. Choose Begin introduction only while in that habitat.

EXPECTED RESULT

A wrong-region attempt or missing-input attempt is refused without inventing an animal.

02Commit an introduction

Choose the desired species, review and commit.

EXPECTED RESULT

One harness and three feed are consumed for the example species. One thirty-minute introduction job starts, and the new animal is not ready immediately.

03Wait for readiness

After the boundary, refresh Companions and inspect the individual animal ID, training level, behavior and aptitude record.

EXPECTED RESULT

The animal becomes ready. Its four aptitude values total eight, with each between zero and five.

04Select and rest it

Select the ready animal, inspect carried capacity, then use Select pet with No deployed companion / none and compare again.

EXPECTED RESULT

Only the selected ready owned animal supplies its actual carrying benefit; selecting does not duplicate animals.

05Train a real behavior

Carry the species’ actual training feed, choose Train, select one offered behavior and commit. Wait for the displayed care job.

EXPECTED RESULT

The training uses real feed, consumes primary activity time and records XP/behavior only through completion.

06Observe a bounded encounter role

When the animal is ready and selected, prepare an earned encounter with an available companion-command technique. Choose a legal command and inspect round history.

EXPECTED RESULT

The animal’s actual configured behavior and aptitude apply within the encounter’s finite action rules. It is not an independent unlimited attacker.
