Existing character and expired link rejection
Check account boundaries with dedicated test identities.
Prerequisites: two consenting test identities and a browser account. This is an account-safety path; it must not be used to replace or merge a real player’s progress.

01Preserve a baseline
Record the two characters’ visible names, locations and item totals in private notes. One Discord test account must already have a Vesperan character.
Each independent character exists before the test.
02Attempt an unsupported merge
Create a code from the separate browser character and submit it using the Discord identity that already has its own character.
Linking is refused with an existing-character or no-automatic-merge explanation. Both original characters remain intact.
03Let a new code expire
Create a replacement link code and wait more than ten minutes without using it. Submit that code using an otherwise eligible test Discord account.
The code is invalid or expired. No link or new inventory transfer is created.
04Check code replacement
Create two codes in succession for the same browser account. Try the older code.
The older code is invalid; requesting a code does not duplicate a character.
05Reopen original accounts
Sign in to each original account and reopen its panel.
Names, locations and possessions are preserved. Do not record passwords, session cookies or codes in shared evidence.
