A shield with a measured material contract
Carry timber ancestry through another player’s paid assembly.
Prerequisites: the two players have earned the starter stock. Player A has completed Expert timber and Measured manufacture, carrying at least two planks from the selected measured batch. Player B must be idle with Armorsmithing level 1. Both meet in Hearthwake.
If starting from the trade budget route, B needs to earn a separate mining batch for this branch. The steps below explicitly earn and transfer the remaining metal and fee.
Step by step

01B earns the assembly metal
B crafts a pick if needed, travels Old North Road to Redbank, and completes four Careful mining cycles using four rations. B crafts iron_bar twice using six ore and four branches, and coin once using two mint ore and two branches. Return to Hearthwake.
B has two real iron bars and ten minted coins from extracted materials; tools and remaining stock stay accounted for.
02Transfer A’s commission inputs
B uses Gift to transfer two iron bars and five coins to A. A opens Market & cargo and withdraws both from the Hearthwake depot. A carries at least two fiber.
The gifts use B’s existing stock. Goods and coins first arrive under A’s ownership at the local depot.
03A previews the shield
In Measured-batch workbench choose Build a laminate shield, Batches 1, Preserve, and select the actual measured plank lot for the plank input. Preview exact batch and record the guaranteed quality and property values.
The quote covers 2 planks, 2 iron bars and 2 fiber. Preview does not reserve stock.
04A posts the measured terms
Choose Offer a material commission. Set Fee 3. Set Minimum quality and Minimum properties to values no higher than the recorded quote, preserving the exact selected plank lot. Review and commit.
The agreed actual batches and fee are escrowed. Impossible material requirements are rejected before custody changes.
05B accepts and manufactures
B selects Accept contract for this ID and waits for the quoted job boundary.
One real maker carries out the contract. B receives the three-coin fee only when the completed assembly satisfies the terms.
06A verifies the finished item
A withdraws the completed shield from the Hearthwake depot, uses Inspect origin, and equips it in the offhand slot.
The shield retains the promised material vector and actual log-to-plank-to-shield ancestry. B is its assembler; earlier contributors are not invented or erased.
07Check batch identity through trade
If A has spare original timber, post one unit for an agreed barter good and let B buy it. Inspect the buyer’s depot lot.
The traded quantity keeps its original batch ID, quality and properties; trading does not reroll a new material.
