Food and tools from gathered materials
Earn food, a stone-tipped spear, a hatchet and a pick without an NPC shop.
Prerequisites: the First session route has reached Southfields/Open Commons; no tools or money are required. All times below are baseline values before any earned facility or specialty adjustment. Use the displayed timer if it differs.
Use routine mode for this reproducible starter stock route. Practice batch is an alternate active challenge; its quality feedback is tested separately.

01Gather starter stock
In Professions choose AFK plan for Choose useful fallen material; in /play → Work use Start work with work survival, mode Afk, cycles 5, method Careful, fallback Wait. Commit once and let all five ten-minute cycles settle.
Baseline total output is 15 branches, 10 stones and 10 fiber. Completed output is in your bag; no claim click is needed.
02Gather food
Start Gather a marked patch (work foraging), mode Afk, cycles 2, method Careful. Wait for both ten-minute cycles.
Baseline output is 8 berries and 2 bitterleaf.
03Cook two ration batches
In Workshop search Cook trail rations, choose Make standard, cycles 2. In /play → Work use Craft, recipe ration, cycles 2.
Six berries are reserved at commitment. Each two-minute batch produces two rations; four rations are available after both batches.
04Make the spear
Make a stone-tipped spear (recipe wood_spear), one batch. Wait four minutes.
Four branches and two stones are consumed; one individual spear with its own item ID is produced.
05Make the two field tools
Make a stone hatchet (hatchet), one batch; after it settles, make a stone pick (pick), one batch. Each has a five-minute baseline.
The hatchet consumes 3 stones, 2 branches and 2 fiber. The pick consumes 4 stones, 2 branches and 2 fiber. Do not queue the second primary activity before the first completes.
06Equip and inspect
Open Character & builds → Carried equipment, or /play → Build → Equip, and choose the individual spear you actually own. Inspect its origin.
The spear occupies the weapon slot. The remaining bag contains the two field tools, rations and unspent materials.
07Return to the opening journal
Walk the South Road back to Hearthwake, visit Record House and inspect A Place to Stand. Finish its displayed requirements and choose your own recorded outcome.
Progress earned by gathering, toolmaking and travel is reflected in the account; there is no instruction to reveal or guess a hidden answer.
