Rental, restrictions and return
Lend an individual item while preserving ownership and collateral.
Prerequisites: A carries an owned individual spear; B carries at least three coins earned through the earlier commission/trade paths. Both are idle in Hearthwake. Do not use a favorite irreplaceable item for a first rehearsal.
Step by step
Tick a step after observing the expected result. Saved on this device only.
01A posts a short rental
Use Market → Rental with A’s individual spear ID, fee 1, collateral 2, hours 1.
The exact item is escrowed and removed from A’s equipment slot if previously equipped.
02B accepts and equips
B accepts the contract and equips the received individual spear.
One coin goes to A as the agreed fee; two coins are held as collateral. B has temporary custody of the same item ID.
03Try prohibited transformations
With this rented item selected, B tries to sell, gift, socket or salvage it in the ordinary forms.
These actions are refused. They do not transfer the rented object or consume its components.
04Check the activity horizon
Inspect the expiry. If an offered activity would run beyond it, attempt only its review/commit in this dedicated test.
The engine refuses commitments extending past the rental’s allowed horizon. An open-ended active work challenge requires the rental to be returned first.
05Return early at pickup
While idle in Hearthwake, B selects Return rental with the contract ID.
The item returns to A’s Hearthwake depot, is unequipped from B, and B receives the two collateral coins back. The one-coin agreed fee remains paid.
06Optional expiry rehearsal
With a separate expendable rental, let its one-hour expiry occur while the borrower is idle. Inspect the return region.
The item returns to its owner’s depot in the borrower’s current region; expiry does not teleport it to a distant pickup depot. Collateral settles once.
